No family visit to the Fylde coast is complete without a trip to Blackpool Zoo, just 9 mins drive from Highcross Corner
It’s not a cheap day out. Tickets vary in price with the time of year and day of the week, but expect to pay £25 for an adult and £20 for a child. A family of 5 will pay something like £90.
But it will certainly be a memorable one, that you and your children will enjoy and remember. Blackpool Zoo is one of Tripadvisor’s top 10% of worldwide attractions, based on reviews over the last 12 months.
The zoo is rightly famous for its variety of animals. Every animal a child might name is featured, from Aardvaarks through Gorillas, Ostriches, Pandas, Reindeer and Tigers all the way to Zebras.
You will find plenty of opportunities to get hands on in the “Animal Interactions” displays. Your child can help feed the Giraffes and Camels, be a Keeper for the day, or meet the penguins and learn more about their lives and habitats.
When you get hungry, you can choose between the BBQ Kiosk, Nawala (serving hot food) or the Food Court, which includes a Subway.
Younger children will enjoy the Playbarn’s Level 3 soft play area.
The zoo is open daily from 10am. Closing times vary during the year, with last admissions 45 mins before closing, so do check before you travel.
